Cambodian Minister Discusses Development Effectiveness at the Global Busan Partnership Forum

PHNOM PENH: Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea under the theme of "Promoting Development Effectiveness: Innovative Approaches in the Era of COVID-19 to meet SDGs", the 2021 Global Busan Partnership Forum were held via videoconferences on 18 and 19 of November.

The Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Cambodian Rehabilitation and Development Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CRDB/CDC), Chhieng Yanara, was the Cambodian authority that participated in Forum, which was aimed to reflect on progress of ten years since the “Busan High-Level Forum” in 2011.

According to a CDC’s press release issued this afternoon, the authorities have proposed to share experiences as well as innovative ideas and practices to respond to the new challenges, especially in the context of Covid-19. The outcomes of the discussions will be forwarded to the High-Level Meeting, which will be held in Switzerland next year.

Chhieng Yanara expressed his sincere appreciation to the Korean government for hosting the event, while himself was a panelist of the session on "Monitoring reform of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC)".

During the panel, the Minister highlighted Cambodia's achievements in promoting development effectiveness at country level, as well as provided key important points on strengthening governance, process, and framework for improving GPEDC mechanisms.

Chhieng Yanara has also said that Cambodia has adopted a series of GPEDC mechanisms into the results framework of Cambodia's Development Cooperation and Partnerships Strategy (DCPS).

The Kingdom has also conducted GPEDC's monitoring exercises by using the Cambodia ODA Database, which is its own Information Management System.
